So now that things are settling in I thought I would share some of the happenings in the library.
In September we had all of the students come in for orientation and to check out a book. It is always fun to see all of the students again after the summer. We also got the Book Club up and running. There are two Book Clubs - one meets in the morning from 7:30 - 8:00 and the other meets from 3:15 - 3:45 after school. We meet on Tuesday every other week. It is open to all students and they can join at any time! Check out the Book Club website and our meeting calendar for upcoming dates.
October was Book Fair! Students had the opportunity to come and hear book talks and browse at the Book Fair. We also had a contest for the correct number of items in the very large container. The winner got the candy AND a free book from the book fair. Students were able to purchase books the next week and we had a very successful Book Fair. Thanks to all who came in and supported the library!
November is here and I am busy adding new books to the library collection that were purchased from the Book Fair. There are a lot of new titles that I know the students are excited to see added to the library. The books are checked out as fast as I can get them on display. I love it when students get excited about the books and reading!
The next project is to get our Maker Space open for the students. It has been a bit of a process and we are hoping to get it going very soon. My goal is to have it open by December. More information on Maker Space to come!!
